Paint protection film or ceramic coating? The difference in one sentence

Both protect paint, but in completely different ways. Here is what each one actually does.

It is the most common question we get, and the answer is simpler than it looks: film is a physical layer, ceramic is a chemical one.

What the film does

Paint protection film is a clear layer laid over the paint. When a stone hits the hood, it hits the film rather than the paint. That is its job, and nothing else substitutes for it.

What the ceramic coating does

A ceramic layer is far thinner, and its job is to change how the surface behaves: clearer gloss, dirt that clings less, and washing that takes less time and effort. What it will not do is stop a stone.

Which one to choose

If your first worry is chips and deep scratches, that is film. If your worry is gloss, easy care and the fine marks that washing leaves behind, that is ceramic. And if it is both, that is exactly why many customers use them together: film on the impact areas, ceramic across everything else.

What about the glass?

Neither one addresses cabin heat. That is what heat-control window film is for, and it is a separate question entirely.
